Friday 8th , Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th June 2012

Setsuko Kobayashi sensei is one of the pioneers in the history of female kendo. She is now 73 years old and still a full time Kendo teacher in Tokyo, being especially popular amongst female kendoka still today. She was the winner of the first and second All Japan Ladies Kendo Championships (1962 & 63) and was the second female kendoka to pass 7th dan. She is the eldest of four daughters of the Yaginuma clan, whose father was also a famous kendo teacher. She has lived in the kendo world both before and after World War II and has practised kendo for 68 years...Click here to read the full story of Setsuko sensei , an article by Hiroshi Ozawa 8th dan kyoshi.
